Why Do Americans Hate the U.S.

I started to see a trend where many Americans made it a side hustle, part-time or full-time job to hate on America. I couldn't help but ask myself why? I mean the issues that were being brought up, were almost amateur compared to the rest of the world's issues. It brought up a question that I believe has a simple answer. Are we so ungrateful that we are unable to see how privileged we are? Yes.

Let me tell you about some things going on in the rest of the world, that we have laws against. In Saudi Arabia, Libya, and China, Christianity is either restricted or prohibited. In Nigeria and Afghanistan, Christians can face death sentences, imprisonment, and torture for practicing their religion. Isn't it great to live in a country that allows you to practice whatever religion you want? People are dying for their faith, and people in this country have the audacity to be offended when they hear the name of God. That is what we call privileged.

Let's talk about 3rd world countries. Many include countries in Africa (not all of Africa, but many), Asia (except Japan), Latin America and the Carribean, and some states and territories of Oceania. The term third world is used to describe countries that are poor. This means high poverty rates, economic and political instability, high mortality rates, low standards of living, a lack of tools and resources, and unstable financial standing. My mom came from Puerto Rico as a little girl. She reminds me to be grateful every day for what I have. One thing she has always said to me is that, "You can come to America with nothing and make something of yourself and be successful." That's what she did. My mom lived in Newark, New Jersey in the late 80s and 90s, when gangs were very popular. The streets were dangerous. She would tell me how she had to give the majority of her paycheck as a young teen to pay rent. She would tell me how she had holes in her clothes and shoes. There were times when she had nothing to eat. She is now a registered nurse, and she gave me and my sister everything she never had. Isn't it great to live in a country where you can climb your way to the top? You can have nothing and make something. The people who compare their situations to poverty, have no idea what true poverty looks like. Many people complain about having to do the work, they are so unaware that in many countries, the option to build your way up does not exist. Has anyone ever heard of the caste system? The poor stay poor, and the rich stay rich. There is no option to become rich or successful. You stay where you are. The opportunity to be successful in the U.S. is so overlooked because of this victim mentality. We trick ourselves into believing that we are stuck. By the way, the U.S. is a first world country.

Continuously, look at some of the rules and laws of other countries compared to the U.S. Afghanistan has prohibited girls and women from attending secondary school. The Taliban has banned girls from going to school past the 6th grade. Don't even get me started on the restricted movement, restricted dressing, forced marriages, no protection. In Yemen, child marriage is common, and wives cannot leave the house without their husbands' permission. Saudi Arabia has a ban on women driving. In Chad, early and forced marriage is common, and has a very high maternal mortality rate. These are just a few examples of how women are treated in other countries. You know what Americans do? Party, hook up with multiple people, get some type of std or sti and call it empowering. Isn't it awesome to live in a country that doesn't infringe upon your rights to education, speech, movement, and to live how you want? We take so many of our rights for granted because we don't realize how much they play a part in our day-to-day agendas. We don't even bat an eye for those who aren't so fortunate to live in a country that gives them freedom. For many countries, freedom is not an ideal or normal concept.

The United States of America is not perfect and may never be. But do you know what the U.S. offers that most of the world cannot? Freedom, clean drinking water and food, rights, the opportunity to thrive and the necessities to survive. There are no continents and countries in this world that are perfect. I believe that the sooner we stop complaining about the things we don't have, the sooner we can see that the U.S. offers things that the rest of the world cannot. Ecclesiastes 5:10 says, "He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this is also vanity." This verse applies to many other things besides money. I ask that you take this with a grain of salt and genuinely meditate on this. Count your blessings before you lose them.
